See more of the Middlecave work here!
It’s time for another exciting update from the demolition and rebuilding of the former farm at Middlecave Yard.
The most notable changes made since my last update is the ducting for water, power, and comms has been installed – as has sewage piping – and, most importantly, the concrete slab that will make up the ground floor has been poured.

Slab! More of this later.
The Ducts

If we look at our site plans, we can clearly see the ducting points in the new building marked with three spots – one of yellow, one of red, and one in blue.

By Middlecave Road. On our plan this spot is located at the bottom right.

At the east end of the site against back lane. On our plan these can be found on the upper right hand side.

At the west end of the site against Back Lane. On our plan these can be found on the upper left hand side of the site. You can also see the orange of the sewage return pipe.

Unmarked on our plan – but located by the main gate onto Middlecave Road – these appear to be the end points for the various ducts. It’s reasonable to assume that this is the point where they will be linked to the national networks.

The utility ducts from Back Lane.
The Slab
The other major change is that the base slab for the new building has been poured.

The west side of the site against Middlecave Road.

From the west side against Middlecave Road looking south to the retained outbuilding.

The unslabbed courtyard area.

The east side of the slab nearest Sainsbury’s.

A temporary retaining wall to hold the concrete in place until it sets.

Another view of the unslabbed courtyard area, this time taken from Back Lane.
The Outbuilding

There has been very little movement on the refurbishment of the surviving outbuilding…

…and the inside remains in a similar state to our last viewing.
That’s all for now. I shall try and make an update towards the end of December.
