So here’s an odd one: if you put Reddit into Google Trends then there is a distinct peak and then decline.

Which, given it’s trading at almost it’s post-float high, feels a little odd.

Now it’s possible that Google Trends means nothing, but if you put the former cultural force that is known as Tumblr on the same chart, you can see that Tumblr’s Google Trends decline pretty much matches Tumblr’s real world decline – just, for instance, look at Tumblr’s drop in late 2018/early 2019 with the adult content ban.

Now this, of course, could just be rot – however we do also know that Google Trends for flu searches had a real world correlation. So it’s certainly something to keep an eye on…
