At that point Google’s hellish search engine rot had left me unable to any footage at all of Stable and I’d given it up as a bad job. A little later, and it appears that google will now surface the YouTube clip above. Who knows for how long…
Like Manchot’s Cornered Star, I first saw Stable at Wentworth Woodhouse in the Summer of 2024. The above is not the full piece – that’s eight minutes rather than the two minutes above and looks better than the crude YouTube clip – but it does give you a little feel for the complete composition. In person the mix of 16mm film transferred to DVD with a minimal sound mix gives the entire thing an almost post-apocalyptic feel.
