Pimoroni’s NVMe Base Case for Raspberry Pi 5

After running my Pimoroni NVMe bases for over a year without enclosures, I figured it was time to stop pushing my luck. Enter the Pimoroni ‘NVMe Base Case for Raspberry Pi 5’.

The kit is supplied in a black and white box not much larger than the completed case itself.

The supplied selection of stand offs, bolts, and other miscellanea. In the event I didn’t need all of the hardware provided.

The case itself is produced from folded aluminium with a black coat.

All of the major port points have holes stamped out.

The top.

The bottom.

The lower part of the case with an NVME board and a Raspberry Pi installed. Like the Pi duo NVME kit pictured, the NVMe Base Case is rather fiddly to set up. It’s also worth looking through the instructions before you start so as to use the right set of stand offs at the right time.

In this particular instance the paintwork on some of the stand offs is visibly stripped as I used a pair of pliers to ensure they were firmly screwed in. A certain amount of flexing is required for the boards to correctly mate with the port cut out points.

The completed case. While there are still a good number of ventilation holes, the unit feels significantly more robust than the bare set of boards that I was running before.
